Learning Area: Learning Habitat 1 - iExperience Human Knot
Learning Observed
Today for to celebrate our Collaboration theme for the term we played a collaboration game. We played “Human Knot”, this is where there is a group of people and the group are all connected with their hands. They have untangle themselves without letting go of their hands. Jiani, Charlotte, Nanami, Sally, Towai and Vivian  were in a group together. Once they got to start they all instantly had the Capabilities for this task. They discussed what they thought they needed to do. Charlotte and Towai were offering advice about who needed to go under the arm and who needed to go over. Sally, Jiani, Vivian and Nanami were very good at listening and offering instructions. The whole group obviously develop very strong Collaboration Capabilities as they completed the task with ease.  The whole group show the Key Competency of Participating with others.

Vivian's Rugby Learning Story

Learner: Vivian
Learning Coach: T.Dillner           Date: 5.5.16
Learning Area: Physical Education
Key Competency: Participating and Contributing, Relating to Others
Learning Observed
For PE, LH1 learners were focussing on passing a rugby ball with the correct techniques. We focused on how to place our hands on the ball, how to position our arms and how to aim. The learners then needed to pair up and take turns to practice passing the ball through a hoop.
Vivian collaborated positively with her buddy. They took some time to practise their techniques and support each other with reminders of what the success criteria were. Vivian made an effort to ensure she wasn’t rushing, and making sure that she was 100% comfortable with these skills before moving on to the next step of her capability (making the hoop a moving target by lifting it up and down).
Evidence of learning
Next Learning Steps
  • Remember that a rugby pass is across the body, starting from the hip farthest away from the target.
  • Practise passing through the hoop from a greater distance.

Moment in time

Moment in time

As I'm at the start of the creepy forest,it felt like someone was following me,but when I turn around there was nobody there. It felt like it was a ghost or a monster following me,I wanted to scream and run back home,I ran and ran and ran, when I heard that someone was following me,and when I turn around,(this time)I saw a ghost behind me I screamed as loud as I can,I ran and ran and ran.I stopped when until I ran out of the dark forest I heard nothing, not even a tiny bit of sound suddenly, the forest was gone,it felt like I was in a place where there was nothing, only grass and houses,it felt like that I was lost forever.

Vivian's Satellite Learning Story

Learner: Vivian
Learning Coach: T.Dillner           Date: 7.3.16
Learning Area: iExperience - Space                     Key Competency: Thinking
Learning Observed
The learners had six activities to choose from to extend their knowledge about Space. Vivian chose to take part in one that required problem solving and thinking skills. She had the option to make either a Mars Rover or a Satellite and picked to do the Mars Rover. With the provided materials, she had to make a connection between her own version and the image that was shown on the screen. Vivian showed curiosity by using the materials in specific ways and both tried to use as much detail as possible in her creation.

Charlotte, Norah, Vivian & Helen's Chinese Lantern iExplore Learning Story

Learners: Helen, Norah, Charlotte & Vivian
Learning Coach: T.Dillner           Date: 25.2.16
Learning Area: iExplore - Chinese New Year
Key Competency: Using Language, Symbols and Text, Relating to Others
Learning Observed
Helen, Norah, Charlotte and Vivian chose to complete an iExplore where they could make something to show their learning. When we began this, it was near to Chinese New Year and the girls opted to use this as their topic of curiosity. They were particularly fascinated with the Chinese Lanterns.
To begin with, they needed to ask questions about how the Chinese New Year and Chinese Lanterns were connected. To do this, they focused mostly on using the 5W’s and 1H. After doing some background research, Helen, Norah, Charlotte and Vivian had to collaboratively agree on a method and set of materials that they would use. Finally, they made their lanterns according to their research and ideas, and added their own creativity too.
